I know first hand how much garbage people donate just to get rid of it (ever heard of a dumpster?) But please note that Goodwill actually pressures workers to put out as many items as they can per hour, so imagine trying to accomplish that when 90% of your donations are people's trash. However, that doesn't excuse the fact that almost everything in the housewares section is pure junk. It is embarrassingly tossed onto the shelves in heaps (no, it isn't just customers that make a mess out of the products.) The furniture is typically nasty as well, but every once in awhile you can find a nicer end table or couch. I could never figure out why they organized the housewares area by "material" - like who would specifically go to the "plastics" row? In fact, I avoid it since it is people's old, dirty kitchen containers haha. There are a few nice checkout workers. This Goodwill gets 1 star because there are certain door attendants who actually THROW fragile, expensive items into the gaylords. They can't comprehend laws of physics, either. HEAVY items do not go ON TOP of an entire gaylord of donations. If I'm giving you expensive animatronics, you had better be gentle with them. We often trek into the store to see if our donations are priced, and we found the animatronics all bent out of shape in someone's cart. At least a lady was buying them, but they appeared to be damaged, decreasing their VALUE that they had when donated. Next time, we'll sell them. We also donated an expensive mirror on another occasion. Upon finding it in the store, we noticed it was freshly CRACKED. Perhaps most of the damaged items you see on the sales floor here are due to GOODWILL'S negligence. Sometimes we'll actually tell them, "make sure you lift it from the bottom or it'll fall apart," and then they proceed to do exactly the opposite! I'll never forget the time we donated Christmas figurines that actually had VALUE (unlike the junk typically in the store) and watched the idiot literally dump them out of the box they were in. What a moron. Said individual is also notoriously rude and doesn't even speak when you donate things. It's like a dog; you must tell it to speak on command. I understand he is getting paid $7.25, which is unacceptable for a store getting things for free, but at least put on a fake smile for us. Goodwill doesn't value its donors and is rather shady regarding HOW its profits are spent.
